- Organizational Mission: The mission of Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County is to be communities of faith united through acts of compassion, education and service to our region. Rising Stars is a program of Associated Churches whose vision is to seek to empower children through Christian values to become the pacesetters for the next generation by building community, offering educational programming and supporting the entire family.
- Volunteer Opportunity: Rising Stars matches the needs of the schools with the missions of the churches in our community. Volunteers are sought to help with tutoring, mentoring, and childcare during parenting classes. Additional opportunities are available for congregations to volunteer by hosting meals and snacks at school events and by blessing the schools with days of caring where painting, cleaning, and mulching take place. Tutoring and mentoring can take place in the schools or at approved sites. Sites are approved by the Study Connection of Fort Wayne Community Schools and can be churches. Once the site is approved volunteer training is provided along with transportation for the children.
- Requirements: Volunteers working with children must complete an application. As part of the process, volunteers can expect references to be contacted, a limited criminal history check to be done, and the sexual offender registry to be checked.
