  •  Mission:  People of faith working together to support and enrich the lives of Fort Wayne's central city residents.
  • Volunteer Opportunities:  To support our learning emphasis in both the Youth After School and Summer Day Camp Programs by working on a one-to-one basis or in a small group with youth giving support to school homework and also carrying out Wellspring's learning and youth development goals as directed by the staff of the agency.  In addition to academic growth Wellspring, in its programming, also emphasizes Intergenerational Activities, Cultural Enrichment and Community Service . Our After school programs include: children in grades 1-12, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-8:00 or Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-6:00. Volunteers would help tutor and implement other structured educational and recreational activities. Our After School program is held at the Wellspring Center Tuesday through Friday and at two Title 1 elementary schools, Study on Mondays and Nebraska on Wednesdays.  The youth generally are from homes with incomes considered Very Low or Low under Federal Poverty Guidelines.
  • Duration of Commitment:  Flexible.  Can be for either the fall or spring semester and / or for our seven week Summer Day Camp Program.  During the school year our program times are Mondays and Wednesday, 3:00 to 6:00pm , grades K - 5; Tuesday and Thursdays, 3:00 to 8:00 pm, grades  1 - 12;  and Fridays, 3:00 to 6:30 pm, grades 1 - 12.  Volunteers could be active for part of our Tuesday and Thursday program day.
  • Training Requirements:  Fingerprinting records check for After School Program; Police records check for Summer Day Camp Program and 1 - 2 hour training period.
